Pit bull paws owner to death?
Aren't dogs known for panicking when their owner is unconscious or dead and trying to wake them up?

A paniced pittie sounds much more likely than one pawing someone to death.I own 2 pit bulls and if I even sneeze,Bella(my adult female pit) spazzes checking on me.She's definatly a worrier.Pawing or licking nibbing my fingers is a very typical response for her. That's how she wakes me in the morning, that and pittie kisses.

Could the paws marks be the pittie flying at the felon, kind of like in protection work. The paws marks on the chest to knock the guy down, the defensive marks on the hands where he tried to protect himself.

Sounds more likely that the pit pawed at the owner and bit at the hands in attempts to get a response. Did the guy die of a heart attack or stroke and the dog just trying to get him up? If we collapse from sun or heart attack or stroke or whatever, most of our dogs are not going to go to the phone and dial 9-1-1, or run to a neighbor and pull on their pant leg until he follows the dog back home.

Most of our dogs will nose us, paw us, may even try to grab our hands.

The first clue is usually blood... dead people don't bleed, they just happen to leak blood if holes are poked in it... Living/struggling people squirt blood all over.

If someone has a stroke though and is unconscious but not dead, the heart still pumps the blood, the wounds on the hands might bleed. The thing is a dog that mauls you to death is going to inflict wounds in the chest, face, throat areas. Just wounds to the hands doesn't make sense for death by vicious dog. Could someone give us the rest of the story please.

Could my perfectly harmless love bug dog kill me by accident?

Oh yes.

Denmark Township woman was found beaten to death in her dog kennel this afternoon. Parents became suspicious when she failed to come to work this morning, and would not answer the phone. Her father found her in the back kennel with one of the dogs. It appeared her hands were nibbled and her clothing pawed. Cause of death was a sharp blow or blows to the head with a heavy hard object (skull of five year old shepherd bitch).

They could easily knock me out and I could hit my head on the concrete when I fell, and never wake up.

Sounds cruel I know, But I once pretended to play dead with Nero.
He got all upset and started pacing around whining then he came and lay by my side sniffing at me....

I found some other articles and they don't substantiate my initial speculations quite as well as the first one did... Apparently there was a wooden baseball bat next to him and his other dog was chained up somewhere else in the house.
