Finally someone's paying attention!
...But I'm sure someone will come along and cry that this just hurts shelters and people's attitudes towards them ()

Hopefully they will also tell people that the Cancer Society (more birthdays) doesn't do chemo and the Kidney Foundation (love your kidneys) doesn't do dialysis. I am not sure if just pet people are truly uniformed, or if there are people who donate to other charities without looking to see what it is they do.

Nah, rescue people are not happy with HSUS or PETA, partly because of what the billboard says -- they are not in it to help the individual animals. But also because They are NOT trying to fix the problem. What people need to realize about HSUS, is that without dogs dying in shelters, HSUS loses all that money for workers and for management and for lobbyists. They lose everywhere that 99% is going. The upper echelon of the Humane Society of the United States are actually people Living off of the murder and misery of dogs and cats. I think the lower echelon, the people really hope they are doing good for animals, I think they are getting little if anything to wave the HSUS banners, and whatever they do for them is not very pleasant.

Shelter workers and volunteers are not working for HSUS and are truly trying to help animals. They make little or nothing for a tough job.

And rescue people love our breed. They are not diametrically opposed to breeders. I am sure they would be happier if fewer people bred their dogs, but they are not against breeders in general, just irresponsible breeding and anything that makes the animals themselves suffer -- the same ones breeders detest.

I doubt it, they are after the Humane Society of the United States and with good cause.
