Default Please let this be a joke?

We have three adjoining fields behind my home- one that belongs to my town homes, one that belongs to the recreation center, and one that belongs to the middle school. All in all this is over 5 acres for my dogs to romp and play and a great free resource. So today Zoe and I go for our evening walk as usual though we went alone since my lab has kennel cough and we're keeping our dogs away from our normal doggie crew. We get through the town homes field and enter the recreation field where I could see a huge sign in the middle of the field. So I walk up to the sign and read "no animals allowed on field $100 fine for violations". HUH? The law in Montgomery County clearly states animals are welcome on county property so long as they are leashed why would they do this? So we enter into the third field belonging to the middle school and alas the sign there says dogs welcome. Here's the weird part- THE ONLY WAY TO GET TO FIELD 3 IS THROUGH FIELD 2 where dogs are prohibited, lol I see a lot of fines coming my way

Sounds like the making for a nice human interest piece for your local TV news crew. I would suggest a few phone calls accordingly.

Might be an idea! We've walked all our dogs in this field with our neighbors and their dogs since the early 90's when I moved here. Generations of pups have grown up and bonded here for nearly 20 years without incident which is why I don't get the sudden change (sign wasn't there yesterday). We pick up their poo, don't leave trash, no dog fights, or human attacks have ever occurred. We see the park police in the field almost at least once a week and they've never said a word though we unleash our dogs which isn't legal. They give them pets, comment on how big their getting, ect... It just peeves me since field 1 and 3 allow dogs how are we supposed to circumvent the two without entering field 2? I can't fly

I would put a call into the Mayors office and explain the problem. You most likely would not be fined for passing through to the other area especially if the areas are not clearly marked.

The beach I take Sage to all the time is part of the wildlife reserve but its also my parents backyard. We have written consent to use that area but it is not open to the public. The city posted no trespassing signs up or you will be fined etc.. so after speaking with the Mayors office we got a permission slip so to speak. The sign is up to keep the general public out.

I agree with W. Oliver about the human interest story and if you know any dog owners that also work for the town(police, emt, mayor, etc.) I would get their help also. There must be a reason in this sudden interest of all of your dogs and maybe someone will enlighten you.

Is the middle field a sport field of some kind?

My son ended up face first in some dog ^^^^ just last week in a football game, not very pleasant.

My neighbor whom I walk with nightly is a Montgomery County cop,lol We're breakin the law together...shhhhh don't tell anyone. I'm going to call the county Monday and see what is going on. This law just makes no sense and contradicts long established county laws as it is. I hope we get a pass to walk through between fields because I can't afford anymore fines, lol

There all three sport fields technically. County sponsored sports teams pay to play in the fields on the weekends mostly. We walk evenings when the fields are clear of games and always pick up our dogs left overs. No one has ever complained to us nor have any issues ever arose. We're a small neighborhood comprised of many dog owners who like to come together and play.

I'll bet that some parents found dog poo on one of the fields and complained.
