sounds like someone got angry and put it up as a scare tactic.
also... i wouldn't worry about this anyways if you're just *passing through* one field on your way to the other, it's probably meant for people who are loitering around in field 2.

Well we used to loiter that is,lol for hours actually letting the dogs and kids play. I'll have to get pics tomorrow of the three adjoining fields but there is no barrier between field 1 and 2 nor a clear way to determine where one starts or ends. Field 3 has a partial fence hence why we must now walk through field 2 to get there since I'm not interested in climbing a fence with two large dogs, but really after 20 years all the sudden this one field is off limits. I don't like boundaries can you tell, lol I'll find out what the deal is Monday because I will certainly be calling citing the counties existing rule and see what happens

It doesn't sound as if any of the three fields are county-owned....the townhouse co owns one, the rec center owns the other, and the school district owns the third. Private land owners can certainly post the land against trespass, I would think. Here where I live dogs are not allowed in any city park, not allowed on the grounds of any school-owned property, not allowed on any property other than your own without written permission (WRITTTEN PERMISSION) from the land owner, and not allowed off leash at all. Very non-dog friendly, and not at all the way it was when I was growing up. Our next house will be in a much more dog-welcoming area for sure.

Well field 2 and 3 are owned by the county for sure since Montgomery County owns all public schools and recreations centers- field 1 is my home where our dogs are allowed off leash. Dogs are supposed to be leashed on county property at all times, but that rule is never enforced- you can actually have an off leash test down by the county for free to receive paperwork stating your dog does not have to be leashed. Henry the lab has already gone through this test but Zoe is a little young- either way field 2 is now off limits for some unknown reason with the fields on either side still open to dogs.

If I'm understanding correctly, field #2 is somewhere people pay to play on weekends? If so I 100% understand them not wanting animals traipsing though. You and your group are most likely not the only ones who've discovered that it's a good place to play with your dogs, and even you guys might not catch every single squat your dog does when they're romping off-leash... I would be one PO'd parent if my kid was in a game and got covered in doggy doo. Especially if the field is rented by someone PAYING to be there.
Why not stick to field #1 if you have to trespass to get to field #3? Is field #3 a lot bigger or something? I suggest you get in touch with field #2's owner(s) and request permission to cut through with your dog on leash to get to the other field. I'm touchy about this because, living on the water there is some family-owned land that touches the water, people go onto my property all the time with their dogs and it ticks me off, I have signs that say "No Trespassing". It is no fun to walk down on your property and step in some strange dog's crap, or find their trash, or better yet, have owners and people argue with you that because you have something nice you should open it to anyone. Used to let people down there, but a few spoiled it for the rest. |

Only takes one person to leave their dogs business a few times to ruin it for everyone. You probably had all responsible owners for a long time and maybe there is someone new just not playing nice and cleaning up after their dog. Near my grams there is an area kind of like what you described that we always went to with the dogs. Just in the last few years it has become a posted area. Its sad. Hard to catch that one person so everyone has to pay.

People don't pay to play in this field at all. The county has adult sports teams they sponsor to play there on weekends in the spring/summer only. People bring their dogs to these games as a matter of fact each weekend where they romp and play in field 2 on the lower end away from the sports field. Field 1 is my back yard and only about 100 yards or so of space- which yes is nice, but isn't near enough room when all the dogs are out. Our communities park is also in field one where people with small children are out constantly- it never fails from 50 yards away some mom says "can you guys leash your dogs"? My response no this is my property can you discontinue trespassing here? We live in a private neighborhood
![]() Field 2 adjoins to field three which is flipping huge, with woods, hills, a cross country running track, and ample room for all the pups to play away from small children and nagging parents- something we cherish. The problem is I can not get to field 3 without cutting through field 2 because the fence's only opening is in the middle of field 2. Though to my surprise last night park police were out while I was cutting through with Zoe off leash. They said hello as usual, gave her a pet, and moved on- nothing about us not being allowed to play there, lol Maybe this won't be a problem after all? I'm still calling tomorrow to see what the point of this rule actually is since at yesterday's day game people attended as usual with their off leash doggies
