Pretty grusome.
There is an awful lot of poop, but there are an awful lot of dogs in each of those poopy kennels. I can attest that two puppies can put an awful lot of poop into a ten by twenty area in 24 hours. Where there is poo, there was food. Where there are many dogs, dogs in general will scarf the food they are given because of the competition. So most of them are probably being fed. The skinny ones probably have worms or other more serious medical conditions that are causing them not to be able to get any nourishment out of the food. water left outside will freeze. Every day in the winter I have to bring the buckets in for the night, and during the day, top them off with hot water. This guy has too many dogs to thaw the water dishes every night. So he/she is simply unable to care for them. Not possible. I know the conditions look terrible, and people there should do somthing. The surrounding shelters are probably just as booked, and most of these dogs will probably be euth'd. I can see how people can decend the slippery slope. Someone tells them that if they do not take the dog they will take it to the pound. The pound kills owner surrenders on the same day. She has no room, but does not want it killed. She is out of money and using barrels for shelters. It is not clean, it is not sufficient, the dogs are not provided proper veterinary care. I do not think the owner of this place wants to be cruel. I think she is over her head. There is only so much money can do. I bet she still believes she is saving these dogs and cats. I feel pity for all involved in this. I think hoarding is an illness, that disables the person from seeing things as they are. Kind of like the anorexic girl sees herself as fat, this person does not see how bad the conditions are. At the same time, the state needs to step in and sieze the dogs, and assess them and euthanize those that are too far gone, and try to find places and individuals for the rest. The person needs to be charged and ordered not to have any more than one or two pets or no pets. I really do not think that this person wants to be cruel to these animals.

No, she has to love them to do this, but you HAVE to know when to stop.. I knew a cat hoarder, she took in every cat that passed under her nose, she took kittens any time someone was getting rid of them, and she had about 80, living in a SMALL 2br duplex. Peta came and took all but fifteen of her cats... Many escaped into the neighborhood. she LOVED them, she lost about 50 pounds in a month because she was so sick after losing them... I did my best to help her, to try and place cats, brought her cat food when I could, I personally buried about seven cats for her, and numerous kittens. I put off calling her in because I really loved some of the cats and I knew they'd die. But in the end, being sick, living in feces and ammonia smell so bad it burns, and having very serious injuries treated at home (I.E one ca got boiling water poured on her, leaving such a severe burn it opened up to exposed muscle, and she got treated in that nasty house) is worse than dying with some comfort.
This rescue is being neglectful and cruel because of her passion getting out of hand. you can't save them all, and while it's sad, I would rather see dogs put down than live their entire life in a small shared pen, getting out rarely if ever... there's no way at all every one of those dogs gets out and properly exercised, even once a week. They would need about 500 employees to keep up with them. Just an unfortunate situation all around, and the dogs are suffering from it. |

Wow, that's the shelter where Benji and Riley came from. We adopted them maybe a few months or so before this video was filmed. Of course they were at a Petsmart store when we adopted them, so it's shocking to see what the shelter actually looked like.

Our petsmart only houses kittens for adoption. But if yours charges what ours does for a kitten or cat, then these people are as bad as a puppy mill. Because even at 100-200$ per dog, these people are not putting that much into each one.

Yeah, mine did that every weekend, and the Petsmart where I live now (Kentucky) hosts the adoption events every weekend also. |

My Petco has a cat adoption event every weekend and all of those kittens are sick. But supposedly they all have their shots done and health checks before you adopt them. I got a kitten from them 3 years ago (I only had him for 2 days because my ex begged me to have him) well about 7 or 8 months later the kitten died from FIP.

I do not know. PetsMart is almost an hour away and I do not go often. Sometimes they have "rescue" groups in with puppies. I find this rather disgusting to tell the truth.
The last time I was disgusted as they had four week old puppies that they were handing off to people and letting them walk around the store with them and set them on the floor. I figure the rescue was just a byb in disguise. I told them that they needed to be more careful with the puppies as they could get something. And she informed me that they had their shots. I asked how did she know they were working yet (the pups were young and might have still been other their mother's immunity, meaning the shots would not have worked). She said because she gave them to them herself. Weeeelll ok then. Ya just can't argue with that. People can charge exorbitant fees for what they are selling in the name of rescue and call it all adoption. For some it is a racket.

It was my local SPCA there once with puppies, they had them in pens on the floor, they also had a very, vry DA JRT on the floor in a crate, and they were letting people bring their dogs up to him, and all over the puppies... Not very responsible. And yes, the fees were way jacked up, a 'pure bred' lot, huskies I think, were $350. I can understand trying to raise money, someone even said they ought to take litters of puppies into foster homes and sell them as designer dogs to raise money, but something just seems wrong about it...
