Breeders in and around NC

I am going to post a thread that has been posted a million other times. Sorry. I am looking for a working line german shepherd. Can anyone who has had good/bad experiences help me out. I lost my first german shepherd about a year ago and I am looking to add a new member to the family. The dog will be a family dog but I live on a small farm with lots of room to run and even a pond to swim in. I am looking for a dog with a high drive. Thanks everyone!

Be careful in selecting a NC breeder- just a word of wisdom from over 30 years in the GSD world- Bob:)

Please read all the threads here on what is a good breeder? Before you buy to be informed. Bob

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

I own a male out of Summerwoodfarmnc.Com . He is near Fayetteville NC. I do schutzhund in NY. What most attracted me to this breeder is he offers free training if you purchase his dog, and he has limited sleepover space free of charge. What breeder offers that. He has 1 stud and a bunch of females. He offers a 2 year hip warranty and refundable deposits. When I picked up my dog he opened his home to me and was a gracious host.
Any question feel free to ask.

That is why I am here. Its tough and, for lack of a better word, scary looking for a breeder. You hear a lot of horror stories. My first shepherd was only 5 years old. He developed a bloat one night. I had the surgery done but he passed away 3 or 4 days later from complications. This was the worst experience of my life. I know large dogs are prone to this and all dogs can get sick. But I am just looking for a solid, healthy breeder to limit this risk.

I have no suggestions, but wanted to say hello from WNC and GO HEELS!!!!!

Oh..and good luck finding your new pup. Mine came from my shelter. He is a descendant of a notorious back yard breeder, but he's perfect in my eyes :)

So what is so bad about breeders from NC.? Pm me because I don't want the mods to lock up the thread based on bashing.
