East TX GSD breeders

I'm hoping someone can help me find a reputable GSD breeder near the Houston area. I'm looking for your basic blk/tan old school variety GSD. The dog will be a family companion, but I like to do quite a bit of training in obedience and tricks, as well as tracking. I also like to use my dogs for therapy work. So a stable temperament and trainability are far more important to me than size and appearance.

I got my current GSD through a rescue situation a decade ago, so I'm very out of the loop as far as breeders go. It seems like a lot of what I see advertised is just pushing red pigment and blocky heads. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not completely opposed to having a puppy shipped, but ideally I'd like to be able to visit the kennel.

Houston is in E.T.? I know nothing of the showline kennels in Texas, but here's one to research. I had it on my saved list to research further if I ever wanted to go that route. I also had the one Jason mentioned earmarked as well:

Vom Tal Der Schatten is pretty good as far as I know. My friend and breeder Cynthia Tidmore, uses some studs form VTDS. In fact the sire of my pup is VTDS male.

You can also check into Germelhaus.

Germelhaus is all working lines. MelloDee is very communicative. She has some B&Ts in her litters periodically.

I looked for many years and can definitely tell you that near Houston will be dificult to get a dog from a very good breeder. Currently I´m in Spring, so I reviewed them carefully.

I ended up getting one from Drachefeld (in Kentucky).

If you want PM me, and we can talk about it.

Good luck,
