Need help finding breeder in Germany (live in the EU)
Hey guys, this forum has been great. I have had dogs of all types including Shepherds as well as worked in rescue, but this forum is a golden resource. I currently live in western Poland and want a working line puppy, preferably from Germany. I live very close to the German boarder and take frequent road trips through the country. I was hoping that someone could give me some direction in terms of where to start looking. I do not have unlimited free time so the fewer visits/ trips I need to take the better. If people are aware of good kennels in Poland or the Czech republic I am open to the idea, but many of the dogs here are the 'half dog/ half frog' variety. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds
I would say contact Mrs. K but she's not on the board anymore :/
Have you tried doing a general search for similar threads? I recall a thread recently regarding the same thing. perhaps that might help send you in a worthy direction?
@Kz I did a search and found several threads like this one http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...reeders-3.html . The thread like many on here was informative from a 'how you should proceed' standpoint but I did not see one kennel mentioned by name or otherwise. One of my German friends recommend http://www.deine-tierwelt.de . It has a large number of GSDs for sale but often lines are not mentioned (not that I am an expert) so I feel like it is a little bit of a crap shoot. There is also German Shepherd World - GSD Kennels in Germany but by clicking the link I think you will understand why I would like some assistance in narrowing down the list. Thanks for the quick response
Sent you the info in PM :)
Are you looking at Showline or working line?
If working line I got my boy from Aritar Bastet in the Czech Republic. The breeder is a great guy and I have nothing but good things to say about my deals with him.
The big issue I would have is that although I would recommend several German kennels, I have no idea where they are geographically in relation to you! These are all kennels that have produced dogs that I know, have owned, imported from, friends have dogs from, or have had an influence in my own breeding program...not just random identification of working line kennels...
Deutsche Schferhunde "vom alten Wingertshaus"
Deutsche Schäferhunde von Conneforde
Zwinger von der Maineiche (INT)
Herzlich Willkommen beim - Team Ottilienstein
East German Kennel
DSH - Zwinger Vom Schmiedegarten
::: von der Schiffslache :::
Zwinger vom Waldwinkel - Zuchtstätte Deutscher Schäferhunde
SV Zwinger - von den Wannaer Höhen » Schutzhund und Sozialpartner sind kein Widerspruch
A few of these are not on that list....
again, have no clue how far these are...but these are all pretty well established working line kennels in Germany - some of these links do not show the actual names - but they should go to a kennel site!!!!
I would like to take a moment and thank all the people who responded both publicly and privately to this post (Kat tried to pm you back but it wouldn't let me). You guys have really helped me through this whole process. I will post which breeder I go with once I figure it out, hopefully at the end of the week.
Whichever one you go with...I want to see pictures!
Hey guys again want to take a moment and thank everyone who replied, and now I can say a childhood dream (German Shepherd, from Germany) has been fulfilled. Ok so here goes, after many searches and phones calls I decided to go with Schaeferhund-Traubeneiche.de - Willkommen auf unserer Homepage! . I drove 4 hours (6 really) from Katowice Poland to Oberlungwitz Germany. It would not be a proper road trip had I not gotten lost so I ended up being over and hour late. Mr. Dieter and his family were very welcoming, in fact his young son let me and my girlfriend in to their yard without even asking who we were. Mr. Dieter does not speak english but fortunately his high school aged daughter does. The transaction was very pleasant, I got to play with the mother of my dog and any doubts I may have had disappeared. She was a such sweet nurtured dog it was almost impossible to believe she was SCH 3! Anyway I have nothing but positive things to say about both the breeder and the experience. Unfortunately my phone died on the way so I was not able to take pictures :( . Anyway here is the info / pictures of my pup (Heidi ) and her mom. As her father was from another kennel I have chosen not to include his pedigree. I asked Mr. Dieter for permission to post info about both his Kennel and his dogs. As I was not able to do this with the male dog I have chosen to omit the info, but anyone savvy enough to use this site can probably google his name if they were so inclined ;) Thanks again guys
