Sorry about the loss of your precious boy, and I don't have any breeder knowledge so I can't be of any help there. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come on and give you some answers to your questions. Good luck in your search, and when you find that new furbaby please share some pics with us.

do not be in a hurry. decide what "flavor" gsd will suit you then start researching and talking to some breeders. there are some some stickies on how to choose a breeder, that would be a good place to start your research. sorry you lost your pal, they always leave too soon.

I know nothing of the breeders, but as far as bringing home a puppy that age, I would say it could be easier or more challenging than bringing in an 8 week old puppy.
Things to ask the breeders, aside from the usual stuff: -Why do they still have the puppies? It might seem rude, but I think it's a legitimate question, especially when most respectable breeders have waiting lists for their breedings. -are they housebroken? -have they had any training? -were they raised indoors or outside? -have they been taught to walk on a leash? I brought Piper home at 3 months, and she is a great dog, but I wish I'd done more homework on breeders and such. But I didn't, and I must go on with what I have. She was raised outside, not housebroken, had no training, and still, at 6 months, cannot walk well on a leash with just a flat collar. She tries to pull me everywhere. Do your research, and make sure you get the right pup, it's a long commitment. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App
