Hi Everyone - I'm new to the forum and I'm curious how far people are willing to travel to buy a puppy? I'm in New England and I'm looking for a breeder to buy a GDS puppy in the next several months. Would a mid-Atlantic breeder find it odd to receive a call from someone in New England? I've been researching breeders on my own thus far and I recently came across a breeder in the mid-atlantic that I'm interested in contacting. Is that crazy?
Thank You in Advance! Markaz |

That's not crazy at all. I made plans to purchase a puppy in OH while I was living in Boston. I did move to KY before picking her up though (still a 4 hour drive).
Some people get pups from Germany... so New England to a Mid Atlantic state is not that far at all. |

Many people buy pups from several states away...if you trust the breeder and know the lines they are breeding then having a pup shipped should be fine!
Many breeders will advertise nationally so they do get inquiries from far away. Very few of the really good breeders only sell to the locals! |

No, not crazy at all. I have driven to TX, VA, WI, and IL for puppies. I even took my female to Germany to do a breeding. I even had a lady drive to here from Phoenix. 2000 miles. That was crazy. LOL

I've been to Germany a few times to buy puppies or adult dogs.....
Distance should not be a problem or concern.......*confidence in your breeder is most important*.

I don't think my breeder found it weird. She is in Illinois and I called her from CANADA, which is like a whole different world.
The pup flew here on her own though, so I didn't do the 12 hour drive.
