Simpson Shepherds
So I am talking with this breeder about getting a new GSD from a littler that was born on Christmas Eve. I have spoken with her over the phone and via email several times, and she seems like a great breeder. I get really good vibes from her, but I also realize that it's not always vibes that count. We are planning a trip out to see her and the new littler of puppies next week, but I wanted to know if anyone had any information on her, good or bad. Like I said she seems like a wonderful breeder, who asked me questions and is sincerely interested in the breed, not in profit. She has very reasonable rates, and I am hopeful that this will work out. Any information would be helpful and very much appreciated! Thank you! ~Ella |

The current litter of GSD pups only has prelims done on the dam. I wonder why? Reasonable rates don't impress me. Maybe look at this link so you'll know which questions to ask when you visit~

I agree that reasonable rates don't impress me either, but it is a considering factor... So I guess that's it, just that they only have prelims done... everything else seems ok, I assume? I will ask about why they have only done prelims on the dam... I appreciate the link, I have been spending most of my time on this site going over those links as well as all the other older posts I could find, on breeders, bringing puppy home, what to look for in puppy and in breeder, and any and everything else I can find on this forum. I am especailly learning a lot in the Puppy Behavior area. Thank you.

Ask what her overall breeding goals are. She seems to have a mix of American showlines, West German showlines and some working lines. Ask her what she wants to see from the use of these different lines.

She may have very nice dogs. Having said that, I was immediately confused by her website. She stated in her introduction that she is a German show line breeder but when I looked at her dogs, they are a mix of different lines. They may be all good lines by them selves, but like Sheilah, I would want to know what her goals were and why she has so many different types of GSDs.

Actually, to me, anything lower than the "going rate" for a puppy of whatever lines is a yellow flag for me. If someone is selling cut-rate puppies, I want to know why.
