I'm looking at a breeder's website and they state they require a copy of the buyer's ID? Is this a red flag? I will PM the website or name if someone wants, otherwise I don't feel comfortable doing it on here. I'm just curious if this is normal practice or something to run away from? This is the first time I came across something like this! So I don't know what to think.

Yes as in a driver's license, this is the first time of even hearing of a breeder asking for ID. I know this breeder from what they wrote has had many bad dealings with others in the past, but this is the first time a breeder has ever asked and I've read many other sales contracts over the years. I know in rescues and shelters they ask for ID. So this is normal though? I know other breeders have asked for a photo of the buyer and things of that nature before, along with phone interviews, etc.
ETA: I'm just wary of given my ID out to just anyone without asking "why" first and asking what they plan on doing with it after the fact.

If they accept credit card or check, I would definitely think it was OK.
