Default Breeder near Long Island

I have been reading and researching the forums, but am afraid I am getting info overload. I am searching for a new GSD mainly for a pet, but am interested in possible schuzhund work and obedience. I recently had to put my 8.5 year old GSD down due to a neurologic disorder. I have had many dogs over the years, but I truly love GSD's. This time around I would like to ensure that I find a really trustworthy breeder I loved my previous Casey, but her breeder definitely was not on the up and up I being younger and more naive to the intricasies took it at face value. I believe I would like a more mellow drive than perhaps the Czech lines ( just what i picked up from here) I enjoy the black and tan and red and black but color is not primary. Looking for good protection since i am NYC FF and am absent a lot of nights so feel more comfortable with GSD home with wife and kids. Really would like to have an addition to the family not just pet. I am not interested in showing the Dog, but as i said before I would be interested in some work or sport to keep us both interested.

I am not from Long Island or New York, but I searched and I think you would like this breeder:

vom Kammer German Shepherds

I cannot testify about this breeder, I am just suggesting you take a look.
You said you liked the black and tan color so why not see what they're about?

By the way, would you be willing to pay for shipping a puppy to you?

I'm in Brooklyn and we got our GSD from a breeder in Suffern, NY and have been going through training with a trainer in Park Slope Brooklyn that does obedience and protection training which sounds like something you may want to do. (We were referred to the trainer by our vet after he tried to bite her). PM me if you want either breeder and/or trainer info. Good luck.
