Default It's worth doing the legwork on a breeder BEFORE getting a dog...

Three weeks ago I bought a dog from a local breeder. She’s 3yrs. old. I asked twice if she was in good health, and he said, “Oh Yes.” We had her hips x-rayed, and she has severe arthritis, and hip dysplasia. I contacted the breeder, and asked for my money back, and I informed him that I would keep the dog, and do the responsible thing in regard to her health. Well, he just ignored me. ********breeder's name removed by Admin** The majority of pictures on his website, are not even his. He has a small backyard, and that’s where the dogs are kept. Also the male he uses for breeding is quite vicious, even when the owner is standing there. The temperament would be questionable in the puppies. Also, this dog was severely abused, she jumps at every little noise, and runs, and cowers in the corner. That’s why I would never give her back to him. She’s such a sweet dog, that I will keep her. We just had her spayed, laprascopicaly done, less trauma to her hips, and she’s on a daily pain med. She really is a beautiful dog, and I will take care of her...Shame on ***name removed by Admin**** for his deceit, and mal-treatment of this beautiful German Shepherd.

i'm sorry this happened to you, but you might want to edit the name of the guy out of your post and maybe save the mods some work. breeder bashing isn't allowed.

Given all the negatives about the breeder why on earth would you buy a dog from him? Also why would you need to do x-rays within only three weeks of buying the dog? If you suspected something with the hips then you should have made a contingency offer. Still don't understand why you would buy from him though.
