Default Updating your breeder

Okay, maybe this would go better in the puppy forum, I couldn't decide so I went with breeding section!

Anyways, I was just wondering, if you purchased a puppy how often do you/did you update your breeder? And if you ARE a breeder, how often do you like to be updated? How often is the norm? Glock is my first from a real breeder and I have updated her once or twice, I am sending one right now, just to show her how dark he is. I CONSTANTLY take pictures, obviously am not going to send her pictures all the time, but don't want to under or over update.

Hi Megan,
I update Molly (Felice vom Amulree's) breeder at least 10 x per year since I imported her as a pup in early 2006. She is always happy to hear of Molly's progress and acheivements and has posted pictures of her on her website. I am lucky to be friends with Brenna's (Andi Bojovnik) breeder and train with her often. She gets updated probably weekly. She is most likely sick of me. She takes an active roll in Brenna's training so if very hands on.

I update my working line female's breeder a couple times per week. She also keeps me updated on how her dogs are doing as well as gives me updates on her new litters, etc. She has become a really good friend and mentor. I also keep my working line male's breeder updated about every month or so.

I had my first litter born in April and I have people send me pictures & updates on occasion. But, I mostly email them and ask how their puppies are doing and if they could send me some pictures. Some are prompt to reply some not.

I know I would really enjoy it if they would send me pictures and updates weekly but, I know that isn't going to happen.

I think if you send your breeder an album link to your photos with permission to use them on their website, that would be cool. Karlo's breeder has a "puplist" so everyone has a chance to update, get support and advice from other puppy buyers. It is a yahoo group and there is a spot for individual album uploads too. Our group ebbs and flows as far as posts, but is always available for advice from the more experienced ones!

Too bad more breeders don't take advantage of something similar or even a private FB page which is very easy to manage/administrate, and you can put pics on a FB page as well. I keep Karlo's sires owner updated thru FB too...just thru my status updates or pics I put up now and then, she can see how he is progressing if she is interested.

I have Miya's breeder on my Facebook (we added each other a couple of days after I brought her home) and we constantly banter back and forth and comment on each other's statuses, photos, etc.

Well so far it sounds like maybe I should update a bit more frequently! I just don't want to bombard her with pictures like I could.

My breeder is a good friend of mine and we chat quite often by phone or IMing. We are friends on facebook and chat all the time on there too. She comments on my photo's and I on hers.

Just a month or so ago, I went over for a BBQ with her family... lol.

We are always updating one another about the dogs, and now that I am raising Zefra for her... well... we chat ALL the time now.. lol.

My breeder is also a Facebook friend so everything I post about Yurik, they see. They're great to give me advice and they love seeing pictures of our boy. They also send me pictures of his sire at the same age of Yurik. Dam was bought as an adult so no puppy pictures but I've met her in person and she's wonderful.

Because that is far too practical.
