Default Canadians, any feelings about burger king buying tim horton's?

I think this stinks for Tim Horton's. I live in Philly so I don't go to TH often but when we visit family in Rochester or vacation in Canada we do enjoy their coffee and donuts. I don't often go to donut places in the US but I do think TH is a step above dunkin donuts. I am concerned that the quality is going to suffer as will the uniquely Canadian "flavor" of the business. Seems like a bummer to me. Especially having Burger King buy the busuness. BK is just awful.

Tims lost there once famous coffee to McDonald's years ago. Infact when I want a good coffee on the road I will go to McDonalds or starbucks. If I want to brew at home I brew kicking horse.

I'm really disappointed and cringing internally at what's going to happen. As a former Timmie's employee I'm shaking my head and want to cry. It may change, it may not but seriously Burger King?! I honestly can say I've eaten there twice in my entire life and hated it both times and what the heck do they know about coffee or donuts? I don't know how popular Burger King is elsewhere but around here there's exactly two that I know of and McDonalds, Wendy's, and Harveys are always packed while they sit empty

I know Timmie's has been changing their menu drastically adding panini's, kettle chips, and chicken burgers () but I'd rather see them standing strong on what's gotten them where they are rather then try to compete in other venues.

The partnership between Wendy's and Tim Horton's has been beneficial for both parties, but there was no merger so no harm no foul. This is a whole 'nother kettle of fish

When an American company goes abroad, do they have to use better quality as far as country laws on meats and produce? Or are they allowed to serve the GMO, steroid, antibiotic , chemical induced crap we eat here?

the GF is a big fan of TH, she likes their tea, she travels back and forth to Canada, the TH in Canada has Garlic cream cheese, they dont here, big disappointment for me as I like the cheddar bagel toasted with Garlic cream cheese, in our area there are 4 TH`s we only go to one, the service is horrible at the other 3, hopefully BK can change that, EH

I think its the same crap we have here-I've been to McDonalds in Hong Kong-made me feel at home-that could be a good thing or bad thing

I think Tim Hortons in Canada is better than Tim Hortons in the states...but maybe Tim Hortons is changing ??

Thanks for all the responses. My family (myself, husband and 2 kids) have taken several vacations in Canada and no matter where we go there is a TH. For us it makes us feel like we are on vacation. We have gone to the maritime provinces twice (including PEI and Chieticamp, NS, but not Newfoundland...yet), Quebec twice (including Lac St. Jean) and one time we started in Vancouver and drove to Calgary. Every little town no matter how remote had a TH. It became something of a family joke. I feel like TH corporate put a 1 mile grid over Canada and is trying to have a TH at every grid point. Anyway, we are not big donut eaters but we have a fondness for TH. I just can't imagine that Burger King will make TH better.

I used to like Philly cream cheese but I think their quality has gone down lately. Maybe it is better in Canada. I know that some products are different/better in Canada.

I think you are right that TH is better in Canada. I have eaten in TH in Rochester and Buffalo and I think it is not as nice as in Canada. The standards just don't seem quite as high.
