Default weed killer

I've tried the home made recipe for weed killer that is floating around the net. It works. Only used it in the front yard where the hooligans do not have access. What I haven't been able to find out is if it is safe for dogs.

It contains vinegar, epsom salt and dawn dish detergent.

What do you guys think? Safe, limited use, or don't use?

Great!!.. First job is the bottom of the fence. Going broke buying the string for the weed eater on that.

1 gallon vinegar
1 cup epsom salt
1/2 cup detergent

It did take a couple of days, but it does work.

Safe. Takes some time. Works. Does best in areas where the sun can get to the weeds..if you need stronger you can buy horticultural (20% vs 5%) vinegar.

Huh, didn't work when I tried it last year, but then maybe my weeds are worse.

It really does work best on hot dry sunny days. Get it down in the AM. Takes a couple of days.

I pretty much use the same ratio that Twyla posted.

We've killed weeds with straight vinegar, not in your lawn though, just curbs etc...

I mainly use it on the cracks in the driveway & walkway to the front door.
