Free-Range egg with no yolk?

I just cracked open an egg from back-yard raised free-range chickens, and it had no yolk!!! Just the white.

Is that even possible?

Those are the new low calorie, no cholesterol eggs. I think they raise them for the McDonalds egg white McMuffins.

Wikipedia: **** egg

I've seen that once in a blue moon with eggs from my grandma's chickens. I think it most often happens in very young hens that are just starting to lay, sometimes they produce an egg before their system is fully ready, if you could say it like that.

LOL, you guys are funny! Also funny how the board censored the Wikipedia link.

Interesting, and thanks Kestrel and Bob, sounds like you guys nailed it.

Now I wish i would have known that it was yolkless and tried to hatch a cockatrice - would have made a very unique pet!
