Vacation Recommendations

I have a travel trailer and would like to stay at a campground which is beachfront. I live in Georgia and have come to learn all the state parks in Florida have a rule that dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time.

I have looked into Myrtle Beach State Park in South Carolina and they have a rule that dogs are allowed on the beach before 10 a.m. or so before a certain date.

I am sure a lot of you go camping with your dogs but where can I go to let my dog experience the ocean with me?

Please bear with my stupid questions. This old dog is learning new tricks. lol.

Outer Banks, NC

I found the dog policy here

camping info here

Outer Banks Camping Guide

I camped in Salvo a long time ago. I didn't have my dog with me on that trip, however.

Thank you. I have wanted to go there too. I camped at Lawson's Landing 30 years ago in Bodega Bay, California and the campground there was privately owned. Dogs were always welcomed there anytime.

Panther and I were down near Tampa at Christmas and didn't have any problems finding a dog beach for us to go to.
It was really wonderful and was part of a dog park too. There was a nice potty area and hose to rinse off afterwards. Almost all of the dogs were super nice and most were off leash on the beach. We were also camping nearby at a state park that was very dog friendly.

Not sure how other states work but in MI, the state parks have different rules depending on the season. Labor Day - Memorial Day, dogs are allowed on the beach but Memorial Day - Labor Day (summer), they are not. There is one state park that has a designated dog beach open in the summer. We used to take dogs to a little township park that allowed dogs but they no longer do since people were not cleaning up. There are very few dog-friendly option in west Michigan unless you know people with private land.

Kiawah Beachcomber Park in Charleston (and Charleston is 1000 times better than Myrtle Beach) is dogs off leash in the dog section of the beach.
