Rat food? please reply ASAP

I know that I've been asking a lot of rat questions, but my account on the rat forum won't allow me to post.
This may sound ridiculous, but I need to know.
Can you feed rats dog kibble as a.regular diet for about two to three weeks? Eventually putting them on a regular diet made for rats.

Why not? Rats will eat anything.

Does it have all of the nutritional requirements for a rat? I don't want to make them sick.

This says it's ok

"High protein puppy food is useful as a supplement to help build up young rats (up to 10-12 weeks), and normal to low protein dry dog food is a good component of a healthy diet."

well personally i would not do it
look into purina LAB BLOCKS
dog food can be given but makes them smell horrid i know from personal experience when i raised rats for a period of time
LAB BLOCKS are best for them
you can supplement that with any scraps of food you are eating

Just watch the protein level of the dog food. The higher protein is not good for the rats.

You can make your own rat food pretty easily. Cereals and fresh fruits and veggies are good too.

Lol that's interesting. So, does that mean that plain cheerios are okay?

Imthemomma 03-14-2014 08:55 PM

Plain cheerios are ok. I wouldn't feed that solely but you can mix them in. Dried whole wheat pasta can be added also.

cheerios are good but they need lab blocks for their mainstay
you have to feed them a good diet and scraps or sharing your food is okay
btw there is a form for rats
Mazuri Lab Blocks

What are lab blocks? And where can I get them?
Can someone describe to me what they look like?
