First Pet Snake!

He's finally here and he's fully awesome. Huge thanks to everyone who helped me make my decision and talked to me about pet snakes! I've named him Impulse, but that still might change if I think of something else. His nickname is Flickr.

A bazillion snake pictures ahead -

Home and out of his traveling container. I'm wearing gloves because it was freezing, he actually hasn't bitten me yet!

First night

The next day, all settled in his enclosure

Bonus snake selfie!

Striking colors. King? Corn? I know next to nothing about reptiles, aside from they like warm places and can give me the heeby-jeebies.

Jungle carpet python They are actually usually dull in color as babies but really brighten up with age. At the rate this guy is going, I think he'll turn out really nice!

Yes, and thank you! I was originally going to go with a ball python but in the end couldn't resist the colors of a flashy JCP.

Jungle carpet python! They're native to Australia and I actually first heard about them from someone here, who shared pictures of their JCP.

And thanks - everyone comments on the freckles LOL I'm one of those rare Asians with freckles, though I'm still learning to embrace them.

Thank you! He really did settle in very quickly and I'm very happy that he did. He's using everything I put in his enclosure and took his meal on Monday like a champ.

Haha, yes indeed! I bought a pack of frozen feeders and fed him two days ago. Great feeding response on these carpet pythons.

Thanks so much! The enclosure is pretty cozy at the moment but it helps him feel more secure, and also gives him everything he needs - so I'm pretty happy Will work on something fancier later!!
