maybe a new dog

I wanted a red male Doberman or a black an tan female right. I might end up with a red female Doberman pup, not exact what I wanted but if it is meant to be then I might do it :).

I don't think the color matters, but the temperament. Red dobes are just as lovely as the black and tan. Good luck!

Ah, those red dobergirls are a lot of fun! I miss mine.

Unfortunately with Dobes, color can matter ... "Affected Animals: Dogs with blue or fawn haircoats. Doberman pinschers are often most severely affected, but it can occur in any breed. Color dilution alopecia does not occur in all dogs with blue or fawn coats, and the frequency varies within affected breeds."

I just picked the above link at random, but there's a lot of information about Dobes of certain colors being affected by this condition.

Yes, fawns and blues are certainly prone to alopecia. I personally would stay away from the dilute colors. Blue is a dilute of black, and fawn (or Isabella) is a dilute of red. And "whites" are another thing entirely, and are not white, but are albinos or partial albinos. Phototropic, prone to skin cancer and bad temperaments, they are a mess.

I don't want a blue, know the health risk but you educated me about a fawn. It came down to a black and tan male and their tails looked bad and the red girl is gone. I won't be doing this.
