Sam did the final night check = Sam is responsible for making sure all doors were properly closed.

Not to mention Sam's horse = Sam's vet bill.

Thanks for the posts guys. It's encouraging to see that it seems most people also believe it is Sam's responsibility. And yes i do hope the horse is okay, he's a really cool horse.
