A dog ages relative to the calendar - not according to his weight. The charts are averages, pups may weigh more or less, and still be normal. A pup weighing less than what the chart says it should does not make it younger than what the calender says he is.

Ok.

So the question could be stated, we were told the puppies were 5 weeks old in the beginning of November, but we aren't so sure they had the dates right. By how the puppy looks now, can anyone give a better approximation of the age?

Is that the situation?

There can be very little difference in how a puppy looks from eight weeks ot nine weeks or nine weeks to ten weeks, or their can be a whole lot of difference. And all of that is totally out of the window if the puppy has suffered from malnutrition or if the puppy is s mixture.

If the puppy still has all of his baby teeth he's probably not any older than 18 weeks now. He looks to be 9-10 weeks to me.
