How private are you over the internet, especially on this forum? Do you discuss topics unrelated to dogs and GSDs? Family issues? Personal problems? What about privacy on other sites like Facebook or other forums you are on?
I'm very open; a little too much and sometimes it makes me uncofortable to say the least but I post away anyways because oxymoronically it's also theraputic. I'm actually more open on this forum than anywhere else because I'm pretty sure no one I 'know' lurks around GSD or Husky forums.

Everything with me is on a need to know basis. I am always aware of what I put out into cyber space. My husband & I are extremely private...this site is about as social as I get on the Internet...I find it relaxing. But don't even use my real name...I am that cautious. lol

I generally try not to give too much away about myself, but I know what you mean about the forum being theraputic as well. There are a lot of issues I'm going through at the moment that I haven't spoken to my family and friends about but that I feel more comfortable talking to strangers about. I know that's weird...but I think it's because my family's way of coping with heavy stuff is to not talk about it. And because I can't talk about it, it's eating me up inside.

I'm fairly transparent, as far as my identity here and other boards. I use my actual name on a couple boards(one 'requires' real names, though many people get away with fake ones)
I don't share any personal stuff on any internet sites, I don't see the point. I don't start drama or share it. FB for me is mostly dog stuff, and I just scroll past all the political/gun rights and other filler. Unless it is really funny, then I may even share it! |

I'm very open on the internet. It doesn't affect me if strangers know my business because they don't care and I'm not so grandeur to think that someone would ever stalk me.
I don't tell anything to anyone I know, though. I keep my opinions about everything to myself. The most my family and friends could tell you about me is that I like animals. I prefer for those closest to me to know absolutely nothing about me because I don't trust anyone and everyone I know is supremely judgmental, gossipy, and close-minded for the most part. Even my facebook page has no information about me and I delete anything I post on facebook within a few days after posting it, although around christmas I filled in my religious status as 'Atheist'. I revealed this out of anger at the bigotry I was seeing all over facebook, but no one noticed so there was no point anyway. I suppose my version of the adage "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" would be "Keep strangers close and keep your friends miles and miles away." |

Not so much. I have only given my name to maybe 4 or 5 via PM. I like the anonymity with having a user name, not for scrupulous reasons...just my right to privacy. I have nothing to promote (well the exception being natural health - but not selling a product or service), so...don't see why anyone would need to know. Plus I have trust issues
...doh - TMI ...Soooo...Jane (onyx), is that or isn't that your real name...hmmm???? Only the shadow knows???

why would you open your life to a forum or any kind of
internet, on-line, face book or whatever. if you have something personal to say and you have to put it on-line pm it, call the person. whatever you do on-line is always there. when you delete, erase, cancel, etc it's merely in cyber space and there's always someone that can retrieve things from cyber space.

Michael is my real first name. I don't get too personal on the internet, but it is relaxing to come here to talk and read about GSD's
Due to my past work in the military I'm on just about any list you could think of and I could be found if the right people was trying hard enough.

I keep things to myself when I don't want to talk about them. Otherwise, I don't really care. Most of the people I talk to regularly here, I'm also friends with on facebook. They know I'm opinionated. If I have something to say i say it. My name on here is pretty self explanatory if you know me on facebook. Its just easy for me to remember.
