Default Buying Property From Tax Sale

I was wondering if anyone has purchased property from a tax sale before? We have a bunch of listings around this time of year and my husband is my thinking about purchasing some land.

I'm here in SC and I would consult an attorney. I think there still is a period the original owner can pay all the back taxes and charges and get to keep their property.

Yes, I heard that too. I could never take something that someone lost at any price

I agree you should consult with a lawyer or someone who's familiar with this type of sale for all the ins and outs of what may/may not happen. IMHO someone is definitely going to profit from another person's misfortunes and it might as well be you as someone else.

if is just property, make sure it is something that it can be built on. if it has a house, you may find it to be a money pit that wasn't maintained.
