Perhaps they think that if they didn't spring for fog lights that the regular ones don't work?

I have come across at least two people who didn't even know they had fog lights. After showing them how to turn them on I asked them what they had thought that button was for and they said they never thought about it LOL

Things I notice people fail to do on my daily commutes:

- use signal
- use the PASSING lane for PASSING (ie, do not drive 10mph under in the PASSING lane)
- turn on lights, in general (like driving a black car at dusk)
- obey basic traffic signals such as all-way stop signs, "no turn on red" signs, pedestrian right-of-way cross walks

Besides letting your dog sit on your lap when you drive, not using your signals and making illegal turns are my pet peeves.

I'm sure all of us have driving habits that could be better though, right?

Honestly, I've wondered if some folks are used to a vehicle that has lights that come on automatically, then they drive a vehicle (spouse, childs) that the lights are manual.

In some Eastern states I've visited, the law states if you have to use your windshield wipers, you must have running lights on. It's zero visibility here right now, and I've passed several cars with no lights on.

Oh, and what about those dotted white lines that you are supposed to follow when making a turn? You know, the ones that keep you in YOUR lane and out of MY lane???

Yeah, pet peeve!
