Hmmm... that 39 gallon may just be deep enough to keep Caesar from borrowing down to the very bottom to deposit his little presents which fuse to the plastic. The daily treasure hunts are getting old.

I have a big litterbox like Laurie's, only there's a hole in the top instead of the side. This way, it keeps tracking to a minimum and totally eliminates cats hanging their butts outside the box, or flinging litter outside the box.
I've been tempted to try the automatic boxes, but I've heard enough snafu about them that I don't want to spend the money. There is one automatic box that hooks up to your plumbing and actually washes the litter and flushes the waste, but it costs about $300 and takes up too much space for our bathroom. I can just see it going on clean cycle just as the cat is starting to potty in it... and that would be *IT*... they'd never go near it again! |

From what I hear (I've never used one), when they work, they are excellent and worth every penny. But, they have major reliability issues and most people get annoyed with having to fix it so often and quit using it.
