Ordered my blueberry plants

Three different Southern Highbush varieties. Wooot woot. They come late Feb so I got to get started on making my holes and preparing the bed. Yay. Not in dog area. I already have a Mulberry tree 1 year old in same general area to distract the birds. It is thriving and is a smaller variety....more of a large bush.

LOL I had to check my title. I do those things when I don't have enough coffee!

Have your soil tested! I can't grow blueberries to save my life in our soil. Our raspberries and strawberries do well though. :)

We typically have acidic soil here. Saving coffee grounds though and will use pine mulch around them. But I do need to do that.

I read to use peat moss and Holly Tone as well. We have acidic soil and they still don't grow. I think they are really picky plants. Everything else that likes acidic soil thrives.

good luck with your blueberries!

I will let you know! Some of the folks I know say they just thrive around here. I got O'Neill, Jubilee, and Sweetheart.....at Walmart, they don't even label the darned pots and I did mail order. Got my Mulberry mail order last year. I have a spot I want to grow some Paw Paws.

I think different varieties thrive in different locations. I know the only raspberries that seem to do well on our hill are everbearers that you chop down in the spring so you only get one crop.

I LOVE my blueberry plants!! They thrive here...only 45 miles north of you, Nancy, so yours should do GREAT!

PS - Be sure sure and pick them before the birds do ...or put netting over them.

:) Kat
