Cool Well, This Is Unusual...

For Arizona anyway...

It's not often that things freeze here.

That looks interesting lol. I wouldn't expect something to freeze in Arizona!

It's been so cold! Down to 20 degrees tonight I think the news said we've had a hard freeze for the past 5 days. It's going to stay cold for the next several days too.

Next week is supposed to be in the 70's

My sidewalk was frozen all day today!

Well I'm your neighbor and this is the coldest winter I've ever experienced in Southern California... I mean I have to take a jacket outside now to play with my puppers... Unheard of!

Nice pictures too!

Well that depends on where you are in Arizona. We've got a family cabin up in Pinetop AZ and it snows there during the winter. Heck, there's a ski resort about 30 minutes away.

Climate change results in greater weather extremes, and an overall warming trend, but that does not mean that it will be warmer all the time everywhere. It bothers me when people say, "oh, look, last week was cold so ha ha global warming." Last year (2012) was the warmest year on record. The US is in a serious drought. The polar ice cap is at the smallest extent ever recorded. Glaciers are receeding more rapidly than anyone predicted.

And it is 45 degrees and raining here in Alaska in January. So, yeah, greater weather extremes is not the norm, not the exception now. Hurricane Sandy anyone?
