Default Another frustrating moment at TSC.

Why, oh why don't I just find another place for dog food???

Partly because we have NO pet stores in this county. We have a few feed mills, some of them sell good dog food, but their hours are scary. I am going to look at Madison Pet and Garden and see if they sell Diamond and if they will carry the Extreme Athlete for me if they do. But that is 30 miles away. One way, in the next county.

There is a feed store in Geneva on Depot road, and one in N. Kingsville up on 193, I used to buy food there, but when I am working, they are just not open enough for me to go and pick it up.

TSC has some of the worst customer helpfulness anywhere. My last issue about the gate panels, I was encouraged to submit, and I did, and I never heard another thing about it. I figure they just figured I was a lost cause since I typed all that out. I don't know. But there is absolutely no point in my complaining about today's issue. If I don't like it, no one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to buy dog food there.

Every week I buy two bags of Diamond Extreme Athlete and two bags of Diamond Adult Chicken and Rice. That's 2 @ 37.99 and 2@29.99. My dogs seem to be doing awesome on a 50/50 concoction of these two foods. And those aren't terrible prices for 40# of dog food that have decent ingredients.

So I went up there tonight to get my 4 bags of food, and they have 1 bag of the EA and another that is all taped up. I bought the unmolested bag, and had them pull two bags of the C&R from the back. There is no more EA anywhere. They sent them only 4 bags on the truck that came that day. 2 were already sold and the next truck isn't due in until late Thursday, so not available until Friday.

Uhm, my dogs will be hungry by Friday. Well, I can go to Erie, PA or Chardon -- but he did not offer to ensure they had any available. I asked if they could do an intra-store transfer, nope, can't do that for feed. Well, why the heck not??? Well they cannot make sure that rain or whatever hits the bags coming in UPS.

OK, fine. They will not get me the food. They will do a rain check so I will be assured my four bags will be there next week. I will have to continue doing this every single week. I did it.

But I guess if I was trying to keep someone buying dog food at my store, I would be trying to locate a bag of that stuff and get it in. Tell the company to ship me more, sooner, do something.

He told me he would sell me the taped up bag for $30. I told him no. I wouldn't be sure what happened to the bag, where it's been, whether it was shoveled off of the floor. It was sent to him that way, so there was no way to know.

Anyhow, now I have to run around looking for the EA all week. Pet Supplies Plus sell Diamond, but not the Extreme Athlete, and they are about 45 miles away one way.

It is just frustrating.

Have you thought about having it delivered instead. I haven't tried it yet myself, but I've been thinking about it.

What a mess. And trying to sell you the opened/taped up bag - for $30! At the very least, I would contact Diamond. Maybe you can order it directly from them or have you tried to see if you can get it online elsewhere?

I think that Pets Supplies Plus can do a special order. Have you thought about just ordering the food online and having it delivered? I have a place by me that does the same order once a week, eow, or once a month. You just sign up and they deliver it however you choose.

Before I put my girls on a raw diet, I used to feed them kibble, and had it shipped to my door through PetFlow. Their price was already discounted, and because I set up a delivery schedule, my shipping was free

It might be worth checking to see if they carry the brands/variety that you use.

TSC just changed something that will cause them problems to no end. They are NO LONGER allowed to order anything. The computer has to do it. My local store now has lots of empty shelves of dog food because of it. I was told this by an employee.

I am assuming TSC is tractor supply? My tractor supply always stocks food in the wrong places, so I get my Adult Chicken and Rice for 23.99. Week after week I tell them it is in the wrong place, but they still honor the price that is posted for that 'spot'. Even when I tell them it is supposed to be 29.99, they still give me it for 23.99. That is bad customer service....but for the people who own TSC!

You need to speak to either the department head or the assistant store manager about ording product.

"The computer is the only way to order it" doesn't wash with me. I've been in retail management over 25 years and I'm very familiar with most computerized inventory management systems.

It can be ordered manually in any quantity you want. You just have to find someone that knows what they're doing.

It might also be they're afraid of getting stuck with it if you don't come to pick it up. Many times a quantity increase to their model quantity of a product cannot be paid for when management makes the order.

Sometimes, but not always, a special order can be placed whereby the customer can pay for it at the time of order.
Also, for something normally stocked, 'special orders' (not a quantity on-hand [QOH] increase) may not be able to be placed.

At TSC they told me it was something brand new, and it was causing them untold amounts of problems. Also if they do NOT have it listed they can't order it. The store manager told me that, as I wanted a certain Carharrt coat. I had called Carharrt and got the info from them, and the manager couldn't order it. So a local place ordered and got it for me.....
