The most annoying telemarketing racket

"Don't Hang up, this is NOT a sales call."

Uhm, don't tell me what to do, do you write my pay check, I bet it isn't a sales call, it is the SAME sales call I have gotten about 30 times already!

"There are "X" number of break-ins every minute, your name has been given to us by a neighbor or relative. We are going to install a security system into your home absolutely free and it will be monitored by local police, fire and ambulance service."

I am an obstinate person. Trying to scare me into buying something simply does not work, no way, no how.

"You must be a homeowner to accept this special program."
Because we all know that when you are renting, you won't be the victim of a robbery, burglary, fall, or fire.

"If you want the security system, please press 1 to speak to a representative, if you want to be removed from our call list, press 2."

This is a trick question. If you press too, they automatically hang up, but they keep calling and calling and calling and calling, for months, maybe years. If you press 1 to speak to someone about it, and tell them that pressing 2 doesn't work, they flat out hang up on you.

The Fiery Pitt will have reached -15 degrees Fahrenheit before I buy anything from these bozos.

Oh yeah, the system is installed free of charge because the monitoring service will drive you to bankruptcy. It IS a sales call, a nasty sales call.

I know I should just hang up on them. But it is irritating.

How about
"We want to help you with your credit card debt." They call at least once a week even though I finally gave in and talked to them. I explained that I don't have any credit cards but they keep calling. If I ask for their phone number they hang up. They know I'm going to report them to the no call list.

That is weird, why do you get so many calls like that?

juliejujubean 01-04-2013 05:27 PM

The one i get all the time is a cruise ship horn. Says i won a free trip on a cruise... Annoying as ****.

I like that one that puts you on hold

"your call is important to us. A representative will be with you shortly"

Huh? YOU called ME. Click.

Oh man. I used to get the "security company" calls all the time. I was always wary that there was the possibility of someone making calls to see who had security systems and who did not to case out homes (I'm not crazy-- this actually happened in a neighboring town some years back).

I waited to talk to the person, and then responded that I had large dogs, many weapons, and a slightly off balance husband who had a wife who could control all of those things even better than he could :p

I never did get a call back.

We still get the "you've won a cruise!" calls occasionally. And CONSTANT calls from Omaha Steaks.

I have gotten both the security call and debt call..CONTINOUSLY, like you said, you talk to someone, they hang up when you ask them to stopcalling, and keep calling, or you press two and they still call.

What I did was put my number on the Do Not Call listing,,there also is a spot there where you can give a number that has NOT stopped calling you , file a complaint,,I did it, and no more calls (knock on wood) I don't t hink I've had the debt call for a couple months now:)

I get a ton of those sweepstakes calls that try to sell the magazines. I feel for those people because that was my first job when I graduated high school. Those cold calling jobs aren't easy. If I get a live person I always try to be polite, but if they keep calling I don't answer.

That's why I love call display! :D

Yeah, but they are using faked CALLER ID numbers now....
