I always say you need a Garmin, a map and some common sense. If you leave any of those behind you may get lost!

Yep. I always print a map. And often make adjustments based on known main roads from the map.

yeah I keep an atlas in the car, my GPS, try to keep my phone charged but dont always get the best signal, especially when we're in maryland... lol. In hindsight, I would have taken a hammer to my TomTom instead of just throwing it in the trash.

![]() They are all pretty good. Depends what you need from it. I never needed anything too serious. Mine was actually bought by my mother while I was in college. I drove to a lot of new places and lived in a new town far from home. I also drove home often. So all I have is a simple low level Nuvi. The 50LM is a decent middle ground. It's not basic level, but it's not the top either. For the price, it is very nice. I like the new features they are putting on them, like lane assist. It actually shows you the lane you need to be in and when the road is splitting. Which, especially here in FL with our horrible highway system... I would love that! You also get free lifetime updates with them. Easy to do the updates too!
