No parent wants to think their child is capable of something so terrible, whether they know they're ill or not.
I know my mom didn't, (and I don't care to publicly go into detail) but I basically proved that if I'm pushed far enough, I could be. That being said, I've found more productive ways to channel my negative energy.

And sometimes it's not an actual organic mental illness, people get angry, they get mad, they get full of bad feelings and want to make other people feel bad too - they take their anger out instead of in. That doesn't make it a mental illness. Fact is, people with mental illness are more likely to be the victim of a crime, not the perpetrator.

Ha!
Yes - that is definitely one of those things that really is bothersome - the Asperger's "connection" which...not good. I am not even sure how that jump was made. NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness - Mental Health Support, Education and Advocacy has good information. There are some other websites that show the incidence of violent crime and mental illness. Easier to read the conclusion: Violence and mental illness: an overview and Facts About Mental Illness and Violence - Mental Health Reporting - UW School of Social Work (older info) Sometimes people are just jerks.
