I'm a youth group leader so do quite a bit of service work with them, we try to do something at least every few months for the community residents.
I went on a mission trip to Nashville in July and worked for a week in the national headquarters of Soles4Souls. When we returned home, we began collecting shoes for them. This is a great pay it forward inspirational group I just posted about it on my fb wall tonight~ fb page: https://www.facebook.com/KeepOnTruckinTeamJayden and Jaydens story is here: Paying it forward 'Jayden-style' continues in Midland, Saginaw, Bay City as youth's birthday approaches | MLive.com I think paying it forward randomly is so easy and really does make a difference! |

We have a local hospice benefit store (2nd hand) and I donate and shop there.
We donate to Billy Graham Association, especially when disasters strike. My personal "charity work" is all these dogs we rescue. |

I love anysoldier.com because you get to send things directly to a soldier. They list little things they need like soap, blankets, toothbrushes or sometimes a soldier will ask for a letter because another soldier never gets their name called at mail call. On the site, you pick a name and the list of things they need comes up. Mail to Afghanistan is same as domestic rates....I just really appreciate what they do, how much they sacrafice and I prefer to help directly...so...thats mine.

That's great. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about it and will look into it especially for next holiday season. I agree with you it is nice to help directly. I support 2 that are far away: www.guidingeyes.org - I am a Pathfinder member of Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown Heights, New York . They accept blind clients that other guide dog schools turn down, due to age or multiple handicaps - they charge no fees and receive no govt. funding. After reading "I am Listening with One Ear Broken" and the rescue work done at Hollow Creek Farm , in South Carolina, www.hollowcreekfarm.org, I decided to donate to them. They rescue dogs, cats, horses, deer, goats, pigs, chickens, etc. They also do education programs and provide training.
