The company I work for has been going through alot of changes. I just found out friday I was bumped from my job. and I will now be going to catalina island for work. Thats an hour+ drive to the port plus an hour boat ride to the island. I was told I cant commute daily. it wont work. I have to live there. I cant afford that and I cant just up and leave my family (bf and dog and cat) I still have those financial responsibilities there. This is so hard to take in. Especially at the holidays. and I have to report to my new job there on Jan 2nd. Thats less then 2 weeks to find a place to live.
Its scary as H e l l to go thru this. I never thought I would have to. and I'm worried about my poor baby Gunnar. How will he cope with me being gone Sunday night thru friday? I will only see my pup on the weekends. I'm afraid he will forget all about me. and if I take him with me he will forget about dad ![]() Sorry, I just needed to vent a little bit and get this crappy situation off my chest.

Love Catalina; it's so fun to visit.
That's pretty far from Riverside though. Is there no way to work out a living situation with the SO and/or pets to go to Catalina with you?

Congrats and sorry
u do have a tough situation. Y aren't u allowed to commute? Catalina is nice and a pretty pricey place to stay. How about taking grunner w/u 1 week and then the next w/ur husband and just rotate? I'm pretty sure he won't forget either of u if u see him weekly. Sent from my iPhone using PG Free |

No way to commute. Taking the boat daily would be a risk. and only if weather is permitting. if the boat doesnt travel I dont get to work that day. Everyone that works there now says you have to live there.
As for taking Gunnar with me. I would love to. I actually thought about taking him with me one week and leaving him home with the bf the next week. and so on. but it all depends if where i'm staying allows dogs. I think it would make it alot easier on me emotionally if I had Gunnar with me. I owuldnt be so lonely. |

This really sucks ... so sorry you got bumped ... is there anyway you can bump someone else or find a new job in such a short time? You mentioned you can't afford it ... instead of a house or apartment, could you find a room to rent or is there such a thing in that area.

the town on the island is literally 1 square mile! thats it! but I did find out some good things. I will get 900 extra a month to help pay for housing and whatnot. and theres a carpool to work. so I dont have to worry about those things.
Now just looking for a place and hopefully one that will let me bring Gunnar along! Everyone, including me, thinks thats the best idea to keep me from being depressed ![]() How can you be sad when you see this cute face!!!! |

That's great that you'll get some help with the higher rent ... and even better you might be able to take your boy with you ... I couldn't leave him behind either.
