Prayers for Sandy Hook Elementary...

I agree the media needs to go home. Someone emailed me the following. It is very touching and I hope it will help somehow.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at
God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

I'm so ready for the media to just go home and leave my quiet street to heal. I love how people are lying just to drive through the road closure signs bc they don't want to walk. On several occasions the troopers at my end of the road block have asked cars how they have gotten in and they have asked for their licenses to see their addresses only to find out they were just to lazy to walk. I read that some people want the media gone and others feel that they should stay. While I do believe that the healing does need to begin, I also believe that more then just Newton needs to heal. This was a horrific, senseless tragedy. The healing process for the family will probably not ever end, but they also need to know that the world is there for them and feel the need to get some closure too.

I don't know what closure the world needs. The guy was a kook and he is dead, he did it, nothing can change it at this point.

The wishes of the victims, those who have lost family members should be taken into consideration. The rest of us have seen and heard enough.

I have to say that the psychologist on the u-tube makes good points. Don't give the people that do these henous acts this kind of publicity. And the families need to heal, many of them will want to express their grief amongst friends and family, not in front of national television cameras.

What happened is horrific. Those people need closure. Yes, the people who processed the scene will probably need support in dealing with that. Down the line as a part of the healing process, one of the people affected by this might choose to work to change how something was done in regards to this tragedy. Kind of like those who have lost loved ones at railroad crossings, working to put gates and lights at all active crossings.

But the rest of the country, and the rest of the world, while we are shocked and grieved, no one owes us anything. The media does not owe us anything. All we needed was a one liner that stated the gunman is dead by his own hand, or the gun man was shot and killed. Done, we don't need to know anything more than that about that worthless worm.

The media gives us what we want, though, we can't blame the hype on them. They are just a polarized reflection of our society, what we want to hear and what we care about.

I haven't read a single article about the gunman, his family, or his motives. I've been following the stories of the teacher victims more closely, probably because I can relate to that since my husband and many family members are elementary teachers. I can't relate to someone so callously slaughtering innocent babies and don't have the time or patience to attempt to understand such a person.

What we want is not necessarily what is best for the families and perhaps for society in general.

They will make a stinking movie about this probably. We are a nation of voyeurs. We want to see people's pain up close and personal, but not personal, through a box, through the window to the world.

I won't even turn the set on. I have watched none of this. What I know of this incident is only what I have read on this thread. I feel for the families, and I feel like Noah's sons who took a blanket and backed up covering their father. I want to cover these people so that they are not exposed to the world in this horrifying time. If I ever hit the television for anything, I hope it is not while I am grieving the loss of a precious child or beloved family member.

The media gives us what their warped perception is of what we want, not what we want.

Let me tell you how I found out about this horrible tragedy ok. My 11 yr old son came running to me with tears in his eyes telling me about this, he posted on facebook the story he read and wanted to get prayers and help for these families.
Media stinks but, when people in the world heard this it touched us all.
We had a fallen Marine around here and everyone lined the streets when his body came home from the airport to the funeral home because we cared.
