Being a parent I can't imagine taking my child to school, kissing them good bye for the day and then never being able to hold them again. I couldn't get through watching the news or reading the entire story. It breaks my heart when children are hurt. What a horrible, horrible thing to happen just before the holidays. Those parents and the children who survived will never get over this. It will always be there. I will never understand why children have to die.

This morning I was so thankful to see my son safe and warm in his bed. I stood at his doorway for a few minutes and just looked at him and started to cry thinking about all the parents who were walking into empty rooms this morning.

I sent my (22 year old) son a text yesterday too, telling him that I love him. He sent me a nice text back. I love that kid so much. I can't imagine what the parents of those little babies are going through.

ashame this country/government is too lazy to give mental illness the attention it truly deserves. i've been screaming about this for YEARS. its brushed under the rug. its the pink elephant in the room. normal people with guns don't commit these crimes. and this guy didn't even purchase any guns so guns laws would have done nothing. the notions of a gun ban is straight naivety. theres something like 2+million guns out there. too late to get them off the street. time to take the LOGICAL and NON LAZY approach.

This hits way too close to home for me. My son and his family lived in sandy hook. My grand daughter would have been in that school yesterday had they not moved. The reason they moved was because their landlord wouldn't make repairs on the house they were renting. At the time we were all so upset that they had to move, as they loved it there. Now I am so thankful for that "slumlord".
All the schools here were in lockdown, as was the hospital I work in. This is just hard to wrap my mind around. Those poor kids. My heart breaks for the families. And now there is talk of a group wanting to protest around the school on Saturday. They have done similar things nationwide. They are sick. I just can't stop thinking about this. |
