If this is the case, then this has nothing to do with mental health. He planned what he was going to do way before he woke up this morning

My thoughts exactly. I was stunned to see those children on tv being interviewed.

I intentionally stayed away from this forum all day, because I was too busy watching the news (every channel I could find) trying to gather information for myself. Running to a German Shepherd Dog forum to give everyone else the play by play from the same news outlets that we were all (or most of us) undoubtedly watching, was far far far from my mind. The amount of misinformation I saw as I browsed through this thread was just jaw dropping. Raw reporting is just that, raw. There is no protocol for reporting a tragedy of this magnitude live as it unfolds.

My heart just broke for these parents all over. "if you have not been reunited with your child, you will not be." because they haven't ID'd the children yet.

I don't think anyone on here was trying to misinform anyone. People were posting what they seen or heard in the media. Its quite obvious that all the facts won't be available for a while. Just like you, everyone was watching this unfold and feeling lots of emotions. Nothing that was reported now or in the future will bring back all those kids

I have always thought happily about being a mother in the future....but how can I bring a child into a world like this?

My mother brought up a good point- this boy did not just live a normal life then wake up today and think "I am going to go kill elementary children".

Something has been wrong with this boy, for some time. How did no one notice this?

Instead of reporting on the horrific events that enfolded, hopefully the media can shift their focus to the families and alleviate some of their pain by letting the families tell good memories of their beloved children.

This exactly!
What has happened so far - as a fall -out - we have no idea actually who did the shooting, where exactly the victims were, and some kid on the 'net is freaking out (and may even have his own life at risk) because they picked his facebook profile and said it was him, when it wasn't!

It's amazing. I think the 'net is a good thing in many ways, but in other ways, it perpetuates this kind of thing and spreads tons of misinformation just like this

I'm sure many people knew he was mentally ill. The problem is that an adult can't be forced to get help. That is a big problem.
