Default Do you live in one of these coldest cities?

With all the changes in climate, I was curious to see if Ottawa was still one of the coldest cities ...

Yes! We are the 4th coldest capital!

How many of you have been out in temperatures this cold? And your dogs? Do they like it?

Kyleigh LOVES it, and had a blast last winter, I can't wait to see her having fun this winter!

Coldest Capitals:

1. Astana (Kazakhstan) -52C*
2. Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) -49C*

3. Minsk (Belarus) -40C*

4. Ottawa (Canada) -37C

5. Helsinki (Finland) -33C

6. Bucharest (Romania) -32C

7. Vilnius (Lithuania) -30C

8. Tallinn (Estonia) -30C

9. Nuuk (Greenland) -29.5C*

10. Warsaw (Poland) -29C

I'm from O-town as well and you're way too excited to be on that list, lol

Winter=

The dogs do love it though and the poopsicles that come along with it!

Wierd that Whitehorse, Yukon isn't on there?

Either way, yes, we regularly get -40c to -54c in a given winter. Let me tell you, having two HIGH drive Shepherds inside for weeks at a time, is NOT fun!! Good thing we have an indoor training facility, or I would be completely insane right now!

Not a capital, but when I was young it was obvious that International Fall, MN, was the coldest city in the lower 48. I don't know if it is entirely true, but they sure get the brunt of those artic clippers.

Is it a capital?

At my very first conformation show in Indiana, I meet some women from Whitehorse. They drove all the way down for the UKC premier with their smooth collies. They had a great sense of humor. I wondered if everybody living there was like that.

Well, Prince George, British Columbia is un-officially known as the "Capital of Northern British Columbia. And yes, Temps in the -30C to -40c is quite common here.

Did you know that a Cuz will retain its squeak and its bounce even when covered in frozen dog drool in -30C weather? Best toy ever for playing fetch at night in the driveway with two dogs to burn off some of that cooped up in the house energy.

Dogs have no issues with temps that cold. As long as we all keep moving and playing, we're fine, but 30 minutes is about all I can handle when it gets that cold.

When it warms up to -20C, it feels positively balmy!

HA HA HA

I visited South Carolina a long time ago during March break - you could tell the CDN tourists - we were the only ones in shorts and a t-shirt!
