Just wondering if this is legit? I received an email from ebay saying that my password has been compromised, so ebay scrambled it for my own security. So next time I want to log in to ebay, I'll have to click the "forgot my password" link and reset it.
Is this a real email? I am very rarely on ebay - how would my password been compromised?

did you go to the ebay site and try your password? Someone may have hacked you. I don't ever click any links in emails. If I get one like that, I go directly to the site to check.

I would also go directly to ebay to report or investigate it, and change your e-mail password at this time too.
My dh has had his e-mail hacked a few times, not sure why...once he reset his password, it had stopped. |

ebay wouldn't send you an e-mail. When you log on it may re-direct to a site telling you to change it.
Do not click on the e-mail link. Virus.

I never ever never ever click on a link on an email. Just go to log into ebay, look for messages, and change your password anyway.

I would delete the e-mail, go directly to eBay and change your password there. Never do anything through e-mail even if it is legit. Always go directly to the site (at the normal link/URL you use, not one given to you via e-mail) and login there or change your password there. This is what we tell people at work (I put materials together with our information security officer and October is cyber security month!).

That's what I do. Also, I'll copy a portion of the email and paste it into google with the word "scam", and 9 times out of 10 I'll get a bunch of hits saying that it IS a scam.
