There's a person who follows me around on the internet. I can't use the same username everywhere because it makes me easier to follow. I was also stalked by my ex until I got a restraining order on him. Being stalked (really stalked, not just the kind where someone spends ten minutes looking up another person online and finds out some info) is scary and extremely stressful. I do not recommend being stalked.

both situations are scarey
![]() I was stalked many years ago, still don't know 'who' it was but apparently the cops did , had a talk with the person and it did stop. It was more 'phone' stalking, they would call constantly when my BF wasn't home, say stuff about what I had been doing, so it was like they were watching me. Knew where I had gone..It was scarey not know who it was or when they were watching. Back then, stalking laws were pretty non existent. To the OP, I don't blame your GF forbeing scared. There are alot of crazies out there today

Yes, I had a stalker.
I was 18 and he told me he was 24. We dated for a couple of weeks and he became so bizare (sp). My sister lived 2 houses away from him, whenever I went to her house he would randomly come over without calling or asking, he started leaving me roses on my car at night and calling me to tell me something is on my car. He would call and call and call, he had his son and daughter calling me "mommy" I dont even like kids! I broke up with him but he continued to show up at my sisters house so I had to stop going to her house. When I started dating my last ex he kept calling me telling me that he loved me. After I moved out of my mom's house I changed my phone number. I haven't seen or heard from him in 5 years but he still asks my sister about me. Oh ya, I forgot to say that he lied about his age, he wasn't 24, he was 28.

I didn't sleep for a week straight once because I was so freaked out. Hang in there. It goes away.

I use to work at the mall...a long time ago.
I would take my lunch breaks out in the mall on the benches. There I met a random guy. We would talk a little. He seemed nice. I started noticing something weird after that....he would always seem to show up when I did. Then I decided not to have my breaks there.....I would walk to the food court. First couple of days, I thought he would get the point. Yeah, until he started showing up in the food court. I really did think I was just making something out of NOTHING....until one night I got off work and went to the parking lot to my car. He was leaning against my car. I ran back in my workplace and had security walk me out. He wasn't there anymore. A couple of days later, he called my house phone (before the cell's took off) I finally contacted the security head at the mall......made a report with them and the local police. They talked to him. It didn't help all that much because he would still show up. I had to quit working at the mall b/c of him. We finally had to change our home phone number. |

I would apply for a restraining order. If there were enough evidence to get him fired, you should be able to get a restraining order. In the meantime, is he banned from the workplace? I would make sure that she tells bosses, coworkers, etc of the problem so that they can alert for something that may be off......for example seeing him outside, etc. I would also make sure she has a taser, pepper spray something on her at all times, and for the time being always have someone with her. Also some cell phones can be equipped with 1 number dialing of important #'s , I would program it for 911. Also let your neighbors know to pay extra attention to people hanging out around your house and things of that nature. Best of luck, it is a horrible experience, I am sorry your girlfriend is going through it.

With harassment the way it works in NJ is you have to have a good number of logged contact attempts by the person (for me it was 3). So if they call, write down the date and the time and phone number, save all emails and IM conversations--print them out if needed. Keep a folder on the creep. Make sure to call the police if it keeps happening and just don't give up on calling them. If they have a written log if you contacting them about this creep it'll help you out even more.
