I seem to be in the minority here, but I actually look forward to Valentines Day every year. John and I have been together for 30 years and I have always received a beautiful bunch of flowers every year. I know they cost more on VD, but I don't care - he is kind enough to send them and I have to admit, I love it.
We get each other a small gift and usually have a special dinner. It is too crowded in this area to try and go out to eat, but we fix a nice meal at home. I am as crazy about him now as I was when I met him in 1981. I am very lucky to have found a kind man, with a good heart, who tolerates all of my crazy dog rescue business and puts up with me. And he brings me my coffee every single morning. I do so love that man!

AAwww....great story, Lea.
I like Valentines Day too. My BF and I don't really do much if the day falls on a weekday, but we will usually celebrate on the weekend. One of the way we celebrate holidays or special days to us is we take the horses out and go for a nice trail ride.

Me too.
My two best Valentine days: The one where DH made me put on a fancy dress and drive around for 15 minutes and I came home to him in his Class A's (firefighter dress uniform complete with braids, tassels and white gloves), on his knees with flowers and said he would do it all over again. He'd also made my favorite dinner. Then, two years ago I was marathon training and had to do an 18 miler in 37degrees and pouring rain and he met me at the end with warm chocolate milk. <3 |

Yes, I do, hubby and I have been together 22 yrs in June and he loves to surprise me on Valentines day.
I remember once when my oldest was only 2, she had been a real pistol all day. He shows up after work with a white trash bag and says "Happy Valentines Day!" Inside were 2 bare root rose bushes.....I cried. I adore gardening, it's the only thing that kept me sane when the kids were small. Last year was great too, we've been working opposite shifts, I'm 12 hour days, he works 12 hour nights. I was leaving at 6am as he was coming in, we said "Happy Valentines" and I went to get in my car. He had duct taped a box of sweethearts candy to my steering wheel and put a CD of love songs in my CD player. So I ended up crying on my way to work.

Yup, I love it.
I think it's ridiculous to hate a holiday just because it's a couples day. I didn't hate it when I was single. It's like hating black history month because you're not black IMHO. We do something special every year, even if it's not that "special" (dinner, movies, etc). But we make a point to go out - without the kiddo - and enjoy the evening. |

I love Valentine's day because afterwards tons of candy is always 70% off which is YAY. Sadly this year I cannot have any candy though for I am trying to lose holiday weight.
