So first let me apologize.. I HATE complaining but really have no other outlet at the moment.. maybe someone can see something in my life that I'm not that might make things a little less stressful.
I shall begin my "little" rant. I will start with the fact that my work schedule is now 12 hour shifts due to a huge inspection. This requires me to be up at 0345 due to the fact I have a new puppy and she is still in potty training mode. But regardless I would probably get up maybe 20 minutes later when she is so I can walk my 2. Anywho, so I get up at 0345. I don't get home from work until 1815 and that's IF I don't stay later to finish things or have things to do afterward, which I always do. With working those hours and getting up that early I have to pretty much be in bed by 2000 in order to get a decent sleep. Ok.. that being said. I am in the military. I am very used to a crazy schedule, long shifts and lack of sleep. Which is why this shift work and lack of sleep hasn't really bothered me until recently when it seems all these outside things are bothering me too. I had abdominal surgery recently so have been out of physical training (PT) for a few months now. I have my PT standards test in one month. My surgeon hooked me up with a Personal trainer that is going ot rehabilitate me so that I can pass my test in a month after not being able to work out for a while. SO thankful for that. If I had a longer amount of time, I would condition myself but I don't.. so it's boot camp all over again instead. On top of that schedule this means right after work I meet with the trainer for an hour.. so I don't get home til 1900 if that. During my lunches I have classes because I need to finish my degree for the field I am crossing into. So that is adding to the stress. Luckily my classes at the moment have a very manageable work load. On top of ALL that I just got a new puppy. Now you all are probably saying "Whitney that was very stupid," because well I would too if I didn't know the story. I had a contract with the breeder in September. I didn't have all the shiftwork, and it wasn't projected, nor was my surgery. So I have all the beginnings of puppyhood to deal with, which undernormal circumstances would be fine. I love my little girl so much just wish there were 36 hours in a day instead of 24. Lol. The weekends.. NORMALLY would provide some kind of relaxation, and for the most part do. But I still get up at 0500 on Saturdays for SAR training for Titan that's an hour away. Then spend time with Athena when I get home, usually obedience and a small walk. Saturdays are my make up with my pups for abandoning them all week. Sundays are Church days.. then all the get ready for the upcoming week, laundry, cleaning, puppy play time, yard work, etc. Then in bed by 2000 to ensure a decent amount of sleep so I don't **** near fall asleep at the wheel like I did this morning. Now I am EXTREMELY blessed to have the neighbors and rommate I do. My neighbor comes over daily to play with my pups and let the little one outside to go potty. She LOVES them and doesn't charge me a penny. My roommate has a more dependable schedule so since I can't get home til late she walks them if she can and plays with them when she gets home. If she can't or stays late at work she always lets me know so I can figure something out. My whole life's schedule will change by the end of the month. I will go back to a normal work schedule even with times for me to meet with my trainer during the work day one a few days. Finances, which have been extremely stressful lately, should be looking up soon so that will be good. Sorry if you read this far and feel it was a pointless post.. just really stressed out and needed some kind of outlet. I'm getting to the point where I'm snapping at people I shouldn't or haven't really done anything. I'm also getting to the point where I'm starting wonder if I'm good for my dogs right now and if I'm really that bad of a mom and it makes me so sad to not have the time with them right now that I know I need to. I know it will all change soon, but that doesn't make it less stressful and depressing at the moment. I'm done. Sorry about the long post. But it feels good to vent to someone/something. Thanks for reading

honestly, I'd be dead
That's a rough schedule!! You are VERY lucky tho to have your roommate and neighbor helping you out..If I were you, since you said things should go back to normal the end of the month, start counting the days,,one day done, a few more to get thru.. Light at the end of the tunnel !!!

That is a rough schedule. Feel free to vent....sometimes it just feels good to get it all written out, even if no one can do anything about it!!

Oh my goodness, that is one intense schedule!! I don't know how you're doing it, but by all means...vent if you need to. Everyone gets to that point where they just need to let it all out.
So glad that you have helpful neighbors and roommate to help you with your pups. Things come up, so I certainly don't think it was stupid for you to get the new puppy. Besides, you're making sure they are well taken care of when you aren't around, so I'd say you're being pretty darn responsible. Hope you make it through all this craziness, and good luck on recovery and conditioning!

Thanks guys. It actually did help to vent about that all. I think the biggest deal for me is the lack of time I am spending with my pups and the lack of sleep. Not to mention the lack of a social life because we all know there is no room for that. Tried to fit one in this weekend, went on a date-ish type of deal and out with some friends another night.. and I am feeling it. So incredibley tired. Lack fo social life is actually hard for me. I am just a social butterfly and love people so only going to work, school and home is slowly killing me. lol.

oh my- I'm tired just reading about your schedule!
You are really being stretched pretty thin...make sure you are taking a good multi vitamin...our bodies can only go for so long before they just crash! There IS light at the end of the tunnel, your dogs will be just just fine-sounds like you have a very nice roommate & neighbor. When this is all over-stop back to this thread with an update so we can give you a "high five" for a job well done

Just an update...
So this week is the BIG inspection. My hours have gone back to almost normal, totally unexpected.. I don't have to wake up at 0345 anymore!! 0515 works fine for me!!! I still have to work out so I still won't get home until almost 7pm.. but at least I can sleep in a little later now. lol.. funny how 0515 is sleeping in. I feel a whole lot better after that rant.. Thanks for reading and motivating me! You guys are awesome! Now I just have to deal with insane inspectors and this darn cold I seem to have just gotten... dang it..

Whitney are you supply?
My husband is and I know these crazy hours, especially through inspection. In Germany, at some point it was so crazy that he not only had staff duty but they kept him right there. So he worked 36 hours straight, despite what the rules say, he was the only one in supply, his soldier was sick and it had to be done. |
