Default Natural Remedies for Sinus/Cold?

This is the first time I didn't realize I was coming down with something until it was too late. The others I live with (my mother and her bf) have been sick, but I have only had a sore throat for a day or two or in the early morning and it goes away. I always take something though (a dose of sinus/cold medicine) and it goes away. But, I went to bed one night and the next morning had a very bad scratchy throat. I won't tell you the gross details, but I think its a sinus infection, but I always get a combo of a sinus and cold together or sinus and flu. Another thing is before this I had back pain and a headache, which I never had before than I end up sick?

Does anyone have any natural remedies? One website said apple cider vinegar, but that its only for 'before' cold/sinus symptoms. I hate taking OTC medicine when I have to go to work, I work starting tomorrow three days straight. Tomorrow I work as cashier and the next two as operator, so I can't afford to lose my voice like I did last time (last year when I was sick). My mother will be picking up some Mucinex D, since I have to stay here to wait for the repair guy to come (if he shows up).

Mucinex D is to loosen plegm in the lungs to expel it easier. the only remedy is time.

I do like my Neti pot to help clean out my sinuses. Take some vitamin C, maybe some Echinea (sp?). I've heard Zinc helps also.

I c. hot water
2 tablespoons honey (raw if you can get it)
2 teaspoons lemon juice (from an actual lemon if you have it)
about a teaspoon or so of ground ginger.

It may not taste the best, but it will help.

Garlic, Peppermint, Goldenseal, Ginger, Honey, lots of vit. C and rest.

I don't have any suggestions, but just a warning to be careful.

A couple weeks ago I got a sore throat, stuffy nose, etc ... typical cold, no big deal. It took a while to shake it, about a week but felt great for a couple days.

Then I got a scratchy throat, light cough, that kept getting worse and worse, finally after about 3 days it developed into a lung infection. Had to go to the dr and she said she thought I had pneumonia (it was late when I got the chest x-ray ... haven't called back since she said the meds she prescirbed would be the same). Have been miserable the past few days ... YUCK ... but it seems to be doing better!!!

I love my neti pot. When I started having the sniffly, sneezy, ickies I flushed my sinuses 3 times a day and slept with my vaporizer filled with vicks right next to the bed. In 2 days I felt 100%.

Thanks guys, I will have to see where I can get a neti pot from. I will try GSDolch's suggestion as well. I just hate the Mucinex D, we couldn't find the pill form so I have the liquid (Mucinex Fast Max, Sinus/Cold) and that makes me sleepy. I'm headed off to work, if I'm not 100% I will just let them know. A few hours is better than nothing I guess.

Lots of things will help (including the neti pot):

There are some great herbal teas out there. See if you can find this: Cold Season Sampler - Explore Yogi Tea

Taking Umcka cold care will reduce the duration of your cold or the flu. It really works.
Umcka® - Get back to life faster with all natural Umcka® ColdCare

And finally, this is the BEST stuff for sinus problems, with or without a cold:
North American Herb & Spice OregaRESP? -- 90 Vegetarian Capsules - Vitacost

Be sure to avoid dairy and drink lots of water, tea and real juice!
