Default I don't understand.

3 things have gone missing in the past month.
  • My USB card reader adapter and the $100 CF card that was inside.
  • My car keys (thank god I have a spare, but my membership cards are on there!)
  • The downstairs television remote.

I have torn apart the downstairs looking for these things (the downstairs is where all of them went missing) but have had no luck. The last person to handle them was Pat. He's had a lot of problems with memory lately and I'm thinking he put them in some weird place and forgetting where it is. Nothing has been found despite hours of searching.

I just don't get it. These sorts of things don't just disappear. I can't find any of them! I even went through the guy we're renting to's room to see if he borrowed anything and saw nothing (didn't go into any drawers though, just checked his desk).

Does anyone have any advice on this matter? Because I'm lost. Short of taking everything out of the house piece by piece and then putting it all back, I'm at a loss of how to find the missing items.

For at least this one, check the couch. Deep in the couch as far as you can reach. I lost my remote for months once and it had slipped so far down a crack that it was actually in the fabric back of the couch.

Maybe they're hanging out with my USB drive, my plan of study, and the numerous other things I lose constantly in some other dimension...

If you're religious, you could try praying to Saint Anthony.

Prayer to St. Anthony for lost items

St. Anthony and I are on a first name basis!

"Hey Tony, it's me again...." (Just kidding, Lord!)

Did you have a place you might have said "Oh look I'll put these things here so that I will always know where they are?"

Sounds silly and you are probably like, Whitney... I'm not dumb... BUT I lost my military uniform hat one morning.. tore my house up!!! I Always have it in the same spot, on the couch or on my dash of my car.. I was in a panic almost in tears because it was the only one I had at the time... turns out it was in my military gear drawer upstairs.. because one day a week or so before I said.. "Oh, I'll just put this here so I will NEVER lose it!" I felt so stupid!

Just saying maybe look in the obvious places that you didn't check because you may have put them there with the thought you obvioulsy couldn't forget Hope you find them! I know how frustrating it is to lose things!!

We have a ghost in our house who likes to take things, especially military things. (General speculation is that it is the Ghost of George, my co-worker Josh's grandfather, who was a Soldier in WWII.) They always turn up again eventually, but it does get old when things disappear.

If you search the forum, I posted about George previously on one of the threads.

The Tardis....check there first?

Just kidding

I'd do what Jamie said about the remote - I honestly am sometimes amazed at the things I find when I pick up couch cushions and reach my hands all around.

As for the rest of it...did you ask the roommate? Not in like, an accusatory way, but you could casually mention to him something like "hey, have you seen etc. etc? I seem to be missing them, and have been looking everywhere!" Don't mention the money, of course. But see if he has seen them, or knows where they are.

Things go missing around here, too. Check in the dog's bedding (if he has like, blankets or anything he sleeps in rather than just a bed or crate) - another place (my Chihuahua's bedding) I seem to find things hidden in cracks. Maybe check the car, too - that's another place I seem to randomly lose things.

Best of luck!

At my house, such things are usually in the back of the refrigerator, on top of the refrigerator, or in the garage. I have no idea why.
