I HATE when someone is ignorant in a certain area and won't accept advice from people with more knowledge. Not only that but I am in awe of how this individual who bought a PB puppy and didn't at all realize the responsibility. He comes into my office and talks to me because he knows I have dogs and knows that though I'm not a dog whisperer, I am a little knowledgable on the subject. He complains and complains and complains about how his dog is not potty trained, crate trained, or obedience trained. I gave him advice and he said that wouldn't work. He has done no research or made any effort to try and raise his dog appropriately. AND he told me a story about how his puppy was playing with him with a ball and jumped up to get it and accidently "bit" his finger in the process of trying to get the ball, NOT aggressively, and he said he smacked him so hard in the face because it hurt. That made me so furious and I lectured him on how he should NEVER do that. EVER and he just thought it was funny. Said that now he knows not to bite. So he will do that but then said it was too cruel to crate train a dog and leave him in a box all day. UGH.. ignorance is only bliss to the ignorant.

One thing you can do when he starts talking about his dog is cover your ears and say BLAH BLAH BLAH. Yes, that is immature but some people don't get the fact that you don't want to hear more bad dog stories when they don't want to listen to you.
OR You could nicely say to him that you don't want to hear about his dog because it pains you to know the dog is suffering unnecessarily. |

I feel your pain.
I know someone who is ignorant and arrogant. Every time I see him some how it always comes up how rare WGSD's are and theres a waiting list. Now the guy is loosing his job and is really trying to find a female WGSD so he can breed her to his male. The only thing I could say was how they are not rare just go look on petfinder.com let me know how many you find. grrrrrrr

"Ignorance is only bliss to the ignorant, it's just annoying to the rest of us." ~me
![]() People just amaze me. There are things that I don't know or maybe think I know then someone tells me otherwise, I research and the lightbulb comes on, i change my ways, and there you go.. learning in the works. Ex: I posted a thread about My 2 Y/o male GSD "attacking" my 3 mo Boerboel. Or so I thought. I explained the situation and was panicking... people just told me what was really going on, no bloodshed = no attack. He was being territorial etc.. and I learned. He doesn't do it often but now if my puppy tries to go in Titan's Kennel and he snaps at her I don't freak out, because i know what's going on. As for that guy, what an idiot.. sorry. But even if they were rare, breeding for money isn't why you should breed, you should breed to better the qualities of your K9, IMO and produce healthier dogs for other people. That's obnoxious. Glad I'm not the only one dealing with stupid people.. but it makes me sad sometimes.
