I order regularly from Jeffers, Stateline, and Dover. Even with shipping, WAY cheaper than the local store.
Get an actual measuring tape. Most of the online items have sizing charts that I have found to be accurate when purchasing for a 10 yo girl. Having said that, if you can get hand-me-downs from the barn, even better. For now, we are using black Paddock boots and black half chaps. If and when we buy proper field boots, I will look at the tack exchange first. Good luck!

OK, so we went to a store in Olympia and got my son a schooling helmet and paddock boots. We also measured him with their apparel so I could order. He now has a helmet, paddock boots, half chaps, 2 pairs of BOYS breeches (thank you Dover and Ovation!), and schooling gloves. He has a pair of field boots on order. He has been riding for a couple of weeks now and LOVES it. His trainer says he is a natural and has a great feel for the horse. He is picking things up much faster than I ever did. I will bring my camera to his next lesson so I can gets some pics of him riding and post them.

So, we now have his 2 pairs of breeches, one black and one beige, his half chaps, paddock boots, field boots, zocks, and helmet. Now onto the search for a boys show coat for this summer. *sigh* We will get there, slowly.
