I was going to post this in the 'F' Word Thread but I kind of view it as a separate thing. This video was posted on my youtube this morning and I found it both disturbing and touching. It goes through the media coverage of homosexuality back several decades and slowly moves forward to modern times. People's way of thinking was VERY screwed up back then (you'll see what I mean if you watch).
I found it touching though, so enjoy. It ends on a happy note I promise.

I know of a gay-rights video, but I definitely couldn't post it here. The F word (the 4 letter one) is thrown around quite a few times....

I don't think some people realize just how bad things were at one point in time, and how long we still have to go. There are still those who cannot get past their own illusions and prejudice.

Whoops, meant to say youtube subscription page, not my personal youtube.
And yes, things used to be horrible. They still are very bad in some areas. My uncle came out when he was around my age (this would have been in the 70s-80s) and he lost all of his friends and didn't speak to my grandparents for ten years. I like to think that most of us understand just what was so wrong back then with torturing homosexuals just to "cure" them.

Aye...least us not forget that women who were PMSing were also considered "mental" to.
But hey, its ok to hold a group of people back if your religion says so.

Contrary to popular belief, just because something is said about ones religion that they don't like, isn't considered bashing. I made a statement, and a general one at that. lol

Actually I don't even think religion is to blame. I think some people do hide behind religion, but that ultimately religion is not what promotes torturing human beings to "cure" them of PMS or homosexuality. I think ultimately the people who use religion to justify this are just using religion to hide how bigoted they really are. I mean, it takes a really bigoted person to torture another human being and then say they're just doing what God wants. Pretty sure there are a few things in the bible/qur'an/torah about loving thy neighbor...
This wasn't a religion thread, don't turn it into one.

He/She was just pointing out the truth. Some religious people do use out of context quotes in the bible to justify keeping gays from having rights. That's just the truth. It's not attacking religion in general. I mean, do you do that? So far I haven't seen you doing that, so I see no reason for you to be concerned.
