What exactly do you do? I think it's interesting to see various people's workout routines, especially the workout routines of people who have dogs (my friend's workout is a 5 mile run with her mutt every morning). So what do you guys do? Do you have a home gym? Do you go to a gym? How often?
I have never had a gym membership. When I was in college I went to the gym four days a week for about 30-45 minutes each day. I never did any cardio, but I would take three 30 minute walks every day around campus. I never really developed any muscle though, probably because I wasn't eating nearly enough protein (cheap college diet and all that). During most of the year now I hike several times a week and take short walks. For about a year I used out elliptical every day for 30 minutes in the morning, but since my housemate moved in I've been paranoid about being walked in on exercising. I need to do more weight lifting. So what do you guys do?

I do a kettlebell workout in my room every other morning. From warm-up to routine and cool-down, it takes about twenty-five minutes or so, and then walking the dogs is my cardio afterward.

I do kettlebells, as well!! I swear, they are the perfect exercise. For those interested, I have "The Kettlebell Way to the Perfect Body Vol. 1". It has a great instructional section, and a 42 minute workout (complete with breaks!).
If you already know the correct form, "Art of Strength: Providence" is the same workout but with no instruction on correct form. Right now I am using an 18 lbs kettlebell. You get your cardio and strength in the same workout.

I workout at home using the "TurboFire" DVDs. I prefer working out at home. But I need that extra cardio to get my heart nice 'n healthy.
And, of course, walking the pup! I have a variety of at-home DVD workouts, and I love them all. Time is my biggest issue... I get home from work, walk the dog, get his dinner, then workout, eat dinner, shower...and by then it's pretty much time to crawl into bed! It's tough...but also necessary.

I used to do traditional weight training a lot, but i really dont' have any use for it any more. Now it's all kettlebells like others have mentioned and body weight exercises. anywhere from 20 min to 1 hour is a typical time frame.
You'd be amazed how much you can do with about 20 push up variations, chin up variations, squat/lunge variations and some good core and flexibility stuff. The more functional the exercise the better. If I could go back probably would have never touched a "machine" in a gym other than maybe a leg press |

I run on my elliptical 30-60 minutes of pure cardio, lol. I work out to be thin. I still have muscle tone from years of gymnastics, doing work around the house, working with dogs, carrying stuff at my job so I rarely do strength training. Sometimes I'll also do "conditioning" like a few hundred sit-ups, push ups, deep lunges, calf raisers, etc.

I use to go to the gym but I felt I was being unfair to the dogs because I was at work all day, would walk them, and then head to the gym for another 1.5 hours. They barely saw me.
Now I workout at home. I have a collection of videos and really enjoy anything by Jillian Michaels. I want to find a good Kettlebell video but not by Jillian. Too many people told me she has bad form in her kettlebell video. Since I've never done them before I want to ensure I have good form.

I started Kettlebells with this one:
She teaches correct form. However, it has short segments with pushups, squat thrusts, and mountain climbers---which I don't like to do. I switched to this one: Again, it has a tutorial section where they teach correct form. No pushups etc. Straight kettlebell. Both workouts have the same format. You do two minutes of exercise, one minute break. I think you will be happy with one of these DVD. I found this study and was impressed. I can testify that KBs are all the experts claim to be! kettlebells012010.pdf from acefitness.org - StumbleUpon "Twice the Results in Half the Time" Agreed, the Jillian Michaels KB workout is lousy. It's an injury waiting to happen.
